Dr.Shehnaz Ganai chairs Assurance Committee meetings

Discusses ATR’s of Hajj & Auqaf, PHE, I&FC departments

The Assurance Committee meeting was Tuesday held here under the Chairmanship of Dr Shahnaz Ganai in which Action Taken Reports (ATR) pertaining to department of PHE, I &FC, Hajj & Auqaf were discussed in detail.Legislators Ali Mohammad Dar, Master Noor Hussain and Ghulam Nabi Monga were also present in the meeting.Secretary PHE, I&FC Mr. Parvez Malik briefed the committee regarding various ongoing schemes and projects pertaining to flood management plan, irrigation canals, water supply schemes, water testing labs and also awareness programmes conducted by the department.With regard to assurances it was informed in the meeting that the Naigadh-Kishtwar water supply scheme has been sanctioned under Special Task Force with an approved estimated cost of Rs 53.15 crore. The main components of the scheme stand allotted to a private firm with a completion period of 24 months.

Regarding another assurance it was informed that 1.50 Lakh Gallon capacity Slow Sand Filtration plant at Pahnoo for Water Supply scheme Treng Khurmpora (Wachi) stands completed and another 20,000 gallon capacity slow sand filtration plant which was defunct has been made functional. There are 9 filtration plants in Wachi constituency, out of which 7 are functional.

Meanwhile, Dr. Shahnaz Ganai also chaired another meeting of the Assurance Committee pertaining to ATR’s of Haj & Auqaf department.It was informed in the meeting that large chunks of the Waqf land and assets are under illegal occupation of state and central government institutions/departments and private persons.Secretary, Haj & Auqaf, Mohammad Afzal briefed the committee regarding illegal occupation of assets and financial issues pertaining to Waqf. He further informed that a detailed survey of Waqf properties has been conducted through concerned tehsil waqf committees. The said committees were also instructed to identify encroachments and to get the properties either vacated or regularized by the way of payment of rentals. It was further informed that till date Rs 55 lakh has been recovered from the education department as rentals.
