The Punjab Government is seriously contemplating the implementation of Human Organ Transplantation Act in the state.Disclosing this here today, Medical Education and Research Minister, Punjab, Mr. Anil Joshi said that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had formulated Transplantation of Human Organ Act in 1994 and the state government had also made it applicable in the state.The Minister said that with the passage of time, several amendments were carried out in the act because organ transplantation has been instrumental in saving many precious lives.He also said that many social welfare organizations and especially Radha Soami Satsang Beas Dera Head had written to the Medical Education and Research Department to adopt the act in respect of the state of Punjab. The minister informed that the modalities regarding legislative action concerning this have been chalked out.
