While terming the removal of Urdu language from the recently issued syllabus for Patwari examination by the Jammu & Kashmir Service Selection Board (SSB) as unacceptable and intolerable act, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani cautioned that if this decision is not immediately revisited, a strong protest will be held against that and a disciplined movement would be initiated to protect the Urdu language. He said that although Urdu has been accepted as an official language of the Jammu & Kashmir but the present PDP government on the directions of RSS are working on a dangerous plan to eliminate this language from the entire state and the actions of SSB are open and clear proof of that.In a  statement to KNS, Geelani said that the Urdu language has been an important language of this sub-Continent before and after the partition and this language is not only an important language of the Muslims but it is a vital communication link between the different communities in India also.

Geelani said that the Urdu language has another importance for the Muslim community living in the sub-continent that after Arabic and Persian, this language possesses a huge quantity of Islamic literature and the prominent Islamic personalities and scholars of this South Asian region had written many important books on Islam and its teachings. He said that since the Jammu & Kashmir is a Muslim majority state so the constitution of this state has accepted the Urdu as its official language and this language is being used in every department like Education, Police, Judiciary and Revenue departments.Geelani however said that this language is being neglected now from a very long time but since the inception of the BJP-PDP government in the Jammu & Kashmir, a deep conspiracy is being hatched to eliminate this language from the state.

These orders directly come from Nagpur and here these orders are implemented with closed eyes.Geelani said that the role of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his other partners in this regard is very sorrowful who for their chairs are closing their eyes from every such issue which is aimed to eliminate the religious identity of the Muslims of the state. They are only interested with their personal benefits and for this they can surrender every uniqueness of the state.Geelani cautioned that we can’t remain silent over the attempts of eliminating Urdu from the state. It is a direct attack on our national and our religious identity and it will not be tolerated in any way. (KNS)
