Nirmal Gupta holds review meet with NGO reps

Appeals for contribution to the Toy Bank initiative

Chairperson J&K State Social Welfare Board Dr. (Prof.) Nirmal Gupta today held a meeting with the representatives of various voluntary organizations from Jammu and neighbouring areas.The Chairperson asked the organizations to come forward and contribute in successful implementation of various schemes launched by the board. She said Family Counselling Center Schemes has been revised from October this year and the budget has been enhanced to Rs 3.10 Lakh from 1.92 lakh.She informed that the Board has started a Toy Bank initiative and appealed all voluntary organizations and public to contribute generously in establishing a Toy Bank for the underprivileged children in 694 crèche Centers run by the board.

The Chairperson asked the voluntary organizations to run their affairs  as per norms and keep all records open for inspection. She stressed on maintaining transparency and accountability in the operations of the NGOs and requested them to submit periodic audit reports to the board in a timely manner.She also emphasized the importance of keeping and maintaining first-aid kits at the crèche centers and asked them to maintain healthy and hygienic conditions at the centers. She asked the voluntary organisations to put up detailed Sign boards for the crèche centers in the standardized format and ensure their visibility so that people in need can easily locate and make use of the facilities.The representatives of voluntary Organisations informed the chairperson about the problems faced by them.Earlier, Executive Director & Secretary, J&K State Social Welfare Board Aamir Ali, requested the NGOs to work with dedication and zeal so that the benefits of these schemes can reach the deserving people of J&K state.
