A meeting of Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held here today under the Chairmanship of MLA, Mian Altaf Ahmed to examine Audit Paragraphs relating to Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department.Legislators, Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Mr. Satpaul Sharma, Mr. Mohammad Khalil Band, Mr. Ajay Nanda, Mr. Rajeev Sharma, Mr. Zaffar Iqbal Manhas and Dr. Shehnaz Ganai were present in the meeting and gave suggestions to improve the functioning of the department.The Committee discussed the Action Taken Report on Audit Paras contained in CAG’s Report for Consumer Affairs and Public Distributions Department.

Threadbare discussion was held on relevant paras including non-functional K. Oil depots and their present status, procurement of food grains and implementation of NFSA in the state and its various aspects.The Committee asked the concerned officers that the Accounts system of the department should be maintained as per the guidelines. It also asked to them to ensure proper supply of K. Oil in remote and far-flung areas. Secretary, CA&PD, Mr. Saurabh Bhagat briefed the Committee about the functioning of the department besides physical and financial activities of the department.Deputy Audit General (DAG), Mr. Deen Dayal Verma, Director, CA&PD, Jammu, Mr. G. S. Chib, Director Finance, CA&PD, Mr. Suresh Koul, Special Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Mr. M. R. Singh besides senior officers of CA&PD and Assembly Secretariat also attended the meeting.
