Danish woman's rape: Two accused claim innocence

Two man facing trial in the Danish woman's gang rape case on Friday denied charges leveled against them and claimed innocence before a court here.Mahendra alias Ganja and Arun, while recording their statement before Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja, denied the charges of raping the woman.Their testimony was recorded as part of statement of the accused.Both claimed that they had not done anything to the Danish woman and Delhi Police planted a false case against them.The court will continue recording of statement of other accused on December 15.

Arjun, Raju, Mohammad Raja, Mahendra, and Shyam Lal have been charged with robbing and raping the Danish woman at knife-point near New Delhi Railway Station in January 2014 after she sought directions to her hotel in Paharganj.Three minors allegedly involved in the case are facing an inquiry before the Juvenile Justice Board.Police said all the accused were vagabonds who took the woman to an isolated spot near the Divisional Railway Officers' Club close to the railway station, took her belongings and then raped her.
