While taking strong notice of the arrest of 6 students of Pampore area by the police, subjecting them to third degree torture in the police stations and not allowing them to participate in their exams, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani said that the state police in a planned manner are destroying the education career of our youths and by pushing them to the walls, the state administration is forcing the Kashmiri youths to abandon the colleges and universities.Syed Ali Geelani appealed the local and international human rights organizations to take serious notice of this issue and use their influence in their release. In a statement to KNS, Syed Ali Geelani expressed his deep concern and anguish over this serious episode and said that the students namely Muteeb Malik (Drangbal), Imran Ahmad Koundu (Kadlabal), Adil Hameed Dar, Uzair Bashir Khanday, Parvaiz Ahmad Akhoon and Tabish Bhat (Namblabal Pampore) were arrested by the police naka party at Seampora on 4th December at the time when they were traveling to Srinagar in a Taveera car.

The arrested youths were first detained at Pantha Chowk police station and then they were shifted to Safakadal, Khanyar and Nawhatta police stations where they were abused and put to third degree torture.According to reports received, one of the arrested student Muteeb Malik was scheduled to appear in the practical exams on 5 December while as Imran Ahmad Koundu was to appear in his 11th class exams on 8th December. While demanding immediate release of the arrested youths, Syed Ali Geelani said that the police had not yet given reasons of their arrest and detained and tortures. He said that whatever were the reasons of their arrests but the police should have allowed them to appear in their exams. This is a serious issue which should be condemned at every level.

Hurriyat (G) chairman said that the government forces in Jammu & Kashmir are unleashing enormous atrocities and cruelties upon the common people and youths particularly students are at their prime target. They are without any reason arrested and subjected to custodial torture and are framed in baseless and fabricated charges which make their career uncertain.Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani said that the reasons behind the students of Jammu & Kashmir abandoning the schools, colleges and universities and picking up gun are the rigid approach of India, its arrogance of power and the excesses and atrocities of the government forces. This is the story of most of the students who have joined the Mujahideen ranks so far. Everybody of them has faced third degree and inhuman tortures at the hands government forces after which they took the path of the brave people. While demanding the immediate release of all the students of Pampore, Syed Ali Geelani said that this issue will be brought into the notice of the human rights organizations and their professional responsibility is that they will use their influence in their release.
