Teachers Welfare Association delegation calls on Priya Sethi

Hail release of Rs 459 cr under SSA by MHRD

To express their gratitude for the landmark decisions taken by the government for betterment of education sector in the State, members of the J&K Teachers Welfare Association (JKTWA) called on Minister of State for Education, Culture and Information, Ms Priya Sethi here today.While hailing the efforts of the Education Minister, Mr Naeem Akhtar and the Minister of State, Ms Priya Sethi the members expressed deep satisfaction on release of funds for the salary of teachers and masters working under SSA. The association appreciated the efforts of the State’s Education Department in pursuing the case with the Union Human Resource Development Ministry.

Addressing the gathering, Priya said on the personal intervention of Smriti Irani the funding pattern for various centrally sponsored education sector schemes has been modified to 90:10 for J&K on the pattern of other Himalayan states.She said the MHRD has immediately has approved funds to the tune of Rs 459 crore and the amount would be utilized for releasing pending salaries of SSA teachers, adding that the central government has also pledged more funds as soon as the state submits utilization certificates in the centrally sponsored schemes.

President of the Association Jasmeet Singh Madaan also presented demands of the association. The demands inter-alia include, setting of gymnasium in model schools, release of mid-day meal grants, sanction of NPS grants, confirmation of ReTs and confirmation of water women serving in the department.Giving a patient hearing to the demands put forth by the association, the Minister said the government is committed to address the issues of teaching fraternity as the teachers are torch bearers of the society. She said all genuine demands would be taken up on priority.Other members of the association who called on the Minister include, Sham Sharma, Bua Ditta, Joginder Kumar Dingra, Amit Dutta, Imtiaz Ahmad, Preet Dutta, Sushant, Harvinder Singh, Kulwant Singh, Murad Ali, Joshpal Singh, Aditya Kumar, Subash Jamwal, Rajesh Singh, Gagan and Gurdas.
