Recalling the services of one of the foremost spiritual personality and best religious luminary of Kashmir, Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (R.A), Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema Jammu Kashmir chief and Chairman Hurriyat (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday paid glowing tributes to him for having dedicated his life for propagating Islam in Kashmir.Mirwaiz said Hazarat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom had during his lifetime laid stress on Islamic teachings, humanity, kindness, brotherhood and social service and helped in creating an atmosphere of justice and fair play.He said it was due to his great service to Islam and message of brotherhood that even centuries after his lifetime , Hazrat Maqdoom is remembered and revered by the people of Kashmir his teachings were attracting all the more attention.Hurriyat (M) Chairman appealed Muslims of Kashmir to learn from the teachings of the Hazrat Maqdoom and dedicate their lives for the betterment of the people.

He said by following his teachings, people of Kashmir can tackle various problems including social evil like moral degradation and way wardness, suicides, consumption of liquor and drugs, domestic violence and crime against women and other evils and fulfill their religious responsibilities.Mirwaiz said if people would follow the teachings of Hazrat Makhdoom and tackle these evils, it would be their biggest tribute of to the great saint.Mirwaiz also strongly condemned the Hindu Mahasabha leader, Kamlesh Tiwari’s statement against Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA), Hazrat Aisha (RA) and termed such statements deeply hurt the sentiments of Muslims.Demanding stern punishment against Tiwari, Hurriyat (M) Chairman said this anti Islamic statement has hurt the sentiments of Muslims and that the entire Muslim Ummah strongly needs to take note of it and raise its voice against them.
