The Congress said on Friday that it will oppose any move by the government to impose two percent cess to fund the skill development programme, saying that it will be another tax burden on the common man."Should a government announce ambitious plans, big schemes and then expect that a common man should bear the burden of it. "We have already seen a cess of 0.5 percent imposed on the common man on the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', a rise in service tax and now there is an impending threat of another two percent cess for the Skill India Mission," said party spokesperson Sushmita Dev, referring to reports about a proposal to levy a two percent cess on individual and corporate income tax to fund the skills development initiative."I hope that logic will prevail over this government and if the intentions culminate into a real policy, we will oppose it," she said.
