Zulfkar reviews preparations for successful rollout of NFSA

Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department & Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Thursday reviewed the preparations with regard to the implementation and execution of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State from February 2016.Chairing a meeting here, the CA&PD Minister discussed timelines for collection and finalising of the relevant data so that NFSA is successfully implemented as per the scheduled rollout date.The Minister issued instructions to prepare Ration Cards as per the format of NFSA before the deadline.It was informed in the meeting that 40.26 lakh souls have been listed in the Priority class, including 26.49 lakh souls belonging to the BPL category and 13.77 lakh souls under AAY category.Meanwhile, for the remaining 33.87 lakh souls under the non priority class, the Minister directed adoption of proper procedures for identification of the families. 

He said that list of families so identified should be displayed in Villages and Wards. 

He also directed for due publicity for identification and registration of families besides Gram Subhas should be organised in collaboration with Rural Development Department for display of lists and seeking objections from the public.He also instructed the Revenue Department to organize special camps for certifying income of identified families besides all Deputy Commissioners were asked to direct Tehsildars to seek 100% coverage certificate from Patwaris viz a viz certifying income of families. He added that Deputy Commissioners will spearhead the endeavour of Government for 100% coverage of all eligible families and ensure that no family is left out.The Minister stressed continuous monitoring of the preparation of final list before the roll out in February 2016.He said that following cabinet nod, the department has started fresh exercise to finalize all data pertaining to implementation of NFSA which will give Right to Food to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.Commissioner Secretary, CA&PD Saurabh Bhagat and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.
