PAC inspects PDD Central Workshop at Pampore

The Committee on Public Accounts of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Thursday conducted an    on-spot inspection of Central Workshop Division Pampore at  Pulwama to take stock of the   functioning and preparedness to meet the requirements during winter season in the valley.Besides the chairman, Mian Altaf Ahmad, the members of Committee including legislators, Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Mr. Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi and Zafar Iqbal Manhas visited the Workshop.On the occasion, the Committee stressed for enhancing the work efficiency to ensure timely  repairs in the workshop so that consumers do not face any inconvenience during winter season. The Committee also suggested for upgradation and expansion of the workshop to improve the repair works.The Committee stressed for opting latest technology in the transformers so that power losses are minimized. It also suggested for streamlining the functioning of the department besides ensuring transparency and accountability at the grass root level to bring improvement in the overall performance of the Department so that people get adequate supply of power especially during winter season in the valley. The Committee also stressed for devising procedures to reduce overloading and transformer damages.

The Committee also asked for taking measures for maintenance of LT/HT services, besides improvement in transmission and distribution lines so that power breakdown is avoided during heavy snowfall.During the inspection, the Committee was informed that during current year out of total 4006 damaged transformers across the valley 3862 transformer have been restored.During the visit the Committee inspected various units of the Workshop and  also took  note of departmental needs and issues of daily wagers working in the workshop.Besides, Development Commissioner Power, Chief Engineer PDD, and Superintendent Engineers, Deputy Secretary J&K Legislative Assembly and other concerned officials accompanied the Committee during inspection.
