As Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India, has sanction for establishment of Postal Training Centre (PTC) in J&K for providing training to the postal employees of J&K, HP and Punjab circles and has allotted the funds reportedly worth Rs. One crore for its initial process; some lobbyists in the department are conspiring that the centre be established in the Jammu and not in Valley.Spokesman of National Association of Postal Employees Group C J&K Circle Srinagar told KNS that some people have mislead the people of the state that the said Training Centre was approved to be constructed in Jammu and are spreading rumors that the department had been receiving vital inputs to place the centre in Jammu.“This is in place to mention here that so far all establishments of common postal interest to all the three regions of the state have been placed in Jammu like Postal Stores Depot, Circle stamps Depot, Director Postal Accounts.

The office of CPMG who is having his head quarter at Srinagar has also been moved more than 75% to Jammu, thus the valley stands totally ignored,” spokesman of National Association of Postal Employees Group C J&K Circle Srinagar told KNS.He said that in the interest of whole state to place the said Postal Training Centre in Valley on the following grounds: 1) all offices of common postal interest as quoted above have been established in Jammu. 2) Locating of said Postal Training Centre in the valley as a single unit of common interest will redress the grievances of Kashmir valley postal staff which otherwise face discrimination. 3) Locating this centre in the valley will give relief to the trainees climatically and every trainee from HP, Punjab and Jammu & Ladakh regions of J&K state will enjoy a comfortable stay during the training periods so far as the weather and the environment is concerned. 4) The tendency of ignoring the valley with political or regional consideration is not in consonance with the Central Govt. policy which intends to avoid a very such step which caused alienation of valley people.Postal Training Centre is a prestigious institute for the training of various trades of Department of Posts. There are only five such training centres in the entire country and establishment of such an institute shall have substantial bearing of the economy of the surrounding area besides improving the infrastructure.
