Accusing State Government of failing to restore the pristine glory of historic Lal Chowk, the newly formed body ‘Association of Hotel and Restaurants Operators of Lal Chowk’ (AHROL) Monday said that due to the callous attitude of the successive government, the historic Lal Chowk in city Centre Srinagar has lost sheen and there is minimal flow of tourists in the hub of city even during the peak tourist season.Addressing a press conference here, Chairman AHROL, Siraj Ahmed said that the business and commercial fever in Lal Chowk has vanished and this historic place has been dying it’s own death. He said that few hours of rainfall inundate whole city centre as a result not only few tourists but whole population face a great inconvenience. “It is really sorry to state that no government did anything for the business community here and nothing was done to beautify this historic place,” he said.

The Speakers according to CNS on this occasion accused Kashmir Hotels and Restaurant Association (KHARA) for failing to take up the issues faced by business community and hoteliers with the government. “Due to the failure of KHARA we were forced to form this new body and hopefully this will represent all the hoteliers and business community in future,” they said.On this occasion, president Kashmir Economic Alliance Muhammad Yasin Khan alleged that economic package announced by New Delhi is meant for the development of Army camps and there is nothing for the traders. “It is irony that crores have been allocated for the Army and peanuts have been earmarked for the business community of Kashmir,” he said.
