Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department aiming to provide essential commodities to common masses at prescribed rates has failed miserably to perform its duties as the essential commodities are touching sky day by day.“The CAPD is in a deep slumber and nothing is done in this regard to keep the prices of essential commodities in control. Aam Adami has no place to complaint against loot and no one is out there to take moral responsibility of doing job honestly despite getting handsome salary every month,”Habib-ulla of Bemina told KNS.People alleged that shopkeepers are increasing the prices of goods like never before and the poor consumer has no option but to continue to suffer.“I was shocked when I saw a kilogram of green leaves (Saag) was sold at Rs 70 per KG by vendors at their will,” Mohmad Aslam of  Batmalo said, adding that isn’t there any rule of law for these vendors,”

He said that if meat and chicken could have prescribed rates why not other commodities including fish, cheese vegetables and fruits. But all in-vain, as nobody is ready to listen and understand the truth because of compulsion of booty system.Mohmad Maqbool of Rajbagh said that a poor customer has nowhere to complain. Time demands that the government should make it a daily routine to issue rate list of vegetables and other essentials to every seller making it mandatory to be displayed. Besides the government should undertake surprise raids to know as to what is going on at ground level to relieve bewildered faces of trouble. No officials of the CAPD department were available for comments.
