Tehreek-e-Khawateen asks government to release all political prisoners

Scores of Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen (KTeK) activists along with its chairperson, Zamrooda Habib Thursday staged a protest here at press enclave against the detention of political prisoners.The protesters assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave under the banner of Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen and were demanding release of all political prisoners including the Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chief Syed Asiya Andrabi and shifting of all Kashmiri prisoners from outside jails to the Valley.They were chanting slogans and holding banners displaying ‘Abolish PSA’.While talking to KNS, Zamrooda Habib said that all the political prisoners’ including DeM chief, Asiya Andrabi should be realized at earliest.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating health conditions of the youth, political prisoners and other leaders who are currently under arrest, Zamrooda said that due to improper medical facilities for the persons lying in different jails, health of prisoners is getting more worsen on each passing day.Zamrooda alleged that prisoners lodged in different jails outside the state are meted out with ill treatment and alleged that most of them have been kept in solitary confinement.Appealing the international organizations, working for upholding the human rights and humanity, Zamrooda said that it is the high time for the organizations to come forward over the issue so that the persons lying in the different jails would be released.She also alleged that the forces are arresting the innocent youth and are harassing them by one way or other. Meanwhile, the protesters later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
