Hundreds of Kashmiri political prisoners have been languishing in different jails of India with 65 alone according to family members of the inmates have been kept shut in narrow and black cells of Tihar Jail where they ‘lack’ all kinds of facilities.Renowned Supreme Court Lawyer Professor Bhim Singh told CNS that more than 700 political prisoners from Kashmir, Rajouri, Doda, Poonch and others parts of State have been languishing in jails all over India. “You will not believe from past three months no case of any Kashmiri political prisoner was listed anywhere. There is fraud and cheating everywhere and no one is concerned about the confined Kashmiri youth,” Singh said adding that that most of the Kashmiri people detained for allegedly involving in anti-India activities.Separatist leader Zamrooda Habib who herself spent over two years in Tihar Jail told CNS that they have received reports how Kashmiri prisoners are ill-treated in the cells of Tihar.

“The inmates have informed us that the newly posted DG prisons is so rude and harsh that he forces Kashmiri inmates to sleep in open without providing them any blanket. It is shocking that even drinking water is not provided to them after the consumption of food,” she said.Kashmiri political prisoners most of them according to family members have been implicated in false cases are present in the cells of Rajhstan, Varanasi, Bengaluru, Gujrat and other jails of India. More than 20 Kashmiri’s have been serving life imprisonment. “It is irony as well as shocking that most of these prisoners have been acquitted by different courts of India and yet to appease the security agencies, the government has been caging them. The condition of Kashmiri inmates in Jodhpur, Tihar, Vadodara and other jails is miserable and their health has deteriorated to a great extent,” said senior separatist leader Javid Ahmed Mir.Mir said that there are people locked up in detention centers and people don't know. Actually some cases make it to the headlines and some suffer silently.  “Muhammad Hussain Fazli (Soura), Muhammad Rafiq Shah (Alesteng), Abdul Gani Goni (Kishtwar) Javid Ahmed Khan (Nowpora), Latif Waja and Mirza Nisar both residents of Khankah Srinagar and many more are spending their time behind the bars and are living in anonymity.”Zamrooda Habib claimed that a Kashmiri political prisoner Javid Ahmed Khan from Nowpora Khanyar has lost his blance of mind in Tihar Jail and the doctors at Deen Dayal Upadhay Hospital has declared him a psychiatric and yet he has been kept in dark cell without any medication. Besides youth from Kashmir, number of Muslim youth from Rajouri, Poonch and Doda districts have also been lodged in different jails of India.

Some of the Kashmiri detunes including Sheikh Nazir, Mehmood Topiwala, Showkat Ahmed Khan and Muhammad Ayoub Dar who were recently released on parole informed CNS that it is like living in hell in Tihar. “You are safe if you are a non-Kashmir lodged in Tihar. The condition of Kashmiri prisoners in Indian jails is miserable,” they said. There are more than two dozen people who have been serving life imprisonment. These include Showkat Ahmad Khan from Nishat, Javed Ahmed Khan (Nowpora), Muhammad Ayub Mir (Hazratbal), Ghulam Qadir Bhat (Dooru), Muhammad Shafi Khan, Raj Din Khan, Shabir Ahmad Malik, Muhammad Amin Dar, Noor Muhammad Tantry, Feroz Ahmad Bhat, Parvez Ahmed Mir, Sheikh Samiullah and Ali Muhammad Sheikh (two brothers), Mushtaq Ahmed Kaloo, Muhammad Amin Wani, Javed Ahmed Wani, Shabir Ahmad Najar , Gulzar Ahmad Wani and Muhammad Ishaq Paul (Shopian).Families of these convicted persons blame Delhi police for “implicating” their dear ones in “false cases.” (CNS)
