Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Department and Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has asked the administration to gear up for transforming the State’s developmental landscape as there will be adequate flow of funds of various development projects following the announcement of Rs 80000 crore Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan for J&K.“We should set new benchmarks in development which will be reminiscent of the transformation that took place between 2002 and 2005 under the Coalition Government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed,” Zulfkar said while speaking at the District Development Board review meeting at Rajouri today.Describing 2002-2005 term of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as a historic era for Jammu and Kashmir, Zulfkar said the administration should try to go past that golden era so that the present tenure becomes a benchmark of deliverance for the coming regimes.

Zulfkar said Mufti Mohammad Sayeed created history during 2003-2005 by starting a new era of peace and development and it became a model era for governance. “With the same administrative tools available even at that time, Mufti's visionary approach transformed the situation in the state where people for the first time started reaping the fruits of peace, dignity and prosperity,” he said and added that Mufti Sayeed has proved out to be the best administrator and he will be remembered for his vibrant approach.Highlighting the importance of single line administration, Zulfkar said that for the first time Chief Minister chaired the meetings of all the District Development Boards besides advisory boards which speaks volumes about his seriousness and sincerity of purpose towards public issues.

Zulfkar stressed the need for implementing the decisions taken in Board meetings on the ground in true spirit. He said the DDBs were diluted by the previous regime same should not be repeated this time. He said the present Chief Minister has streamlined and strengthened DDBs and now it is the responsibility of the administration to work on ground and implement the decisions taken in District Development Board meetings.Expressing satisfaction for the financial package announced by the Prime Minister, Zulfkar said that good state-centre relations are proving beneficial for the people of J&K. He thanked PM for the reconstruction plan and said that it became possible due to the efforts of State Government led Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that J&K got such a huge package.
