Won’t allow Punjab to be dragged back to black days of 1980s: Sukhbir Singh Badal

Warns Congress & other parties to desist from petty politics

The Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal has categorically made it clear that the State Government won’t allow the state to be dragged back to the turmoil filled black days of the 1980s. He said that all the anti- Punjab forces engaged in hatching conspiracies have to suffer a bitter loss of face because the people of the state want peace and communal brotherhood in the state. Warning Congress and other parties to desist from petty politics, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the people are not ignorant of the narrow power games being played by some elements and they would defeat the nefarious designs of such evil forces.Addressing a district level meeting of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) here at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the recent incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was the handiwork of some anti-Punjab forces and points out to some big conspiracy. Condemning the incidents, the Deputy Chief Minister informed that Congress and other political parties are hell bent on vitiating the peaceful atmosphere of the state but the people of the state are sensible enough to thwart their designs. He disclosed that the Akali-BJP government under the leadership of S. Parkash Singh Badal has rendered yeoman’s service in ensuring atmosphere of communal amity during the past 9 years.

Appealing to the Congress and other political parties to desist from poisoning the atmosphere of Punjab, the Deputy Chief Minister said that if the state again goes back to the trouble filled period then it would take ages to get back on track which would hamper the progress made by the state on the road to development. Coming heavily on the Congress, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the recent congregation (Sarbat Khalsa) held by some panthic factions was only made possible with the backing of Congress and the participation of congress leaders in the congregation has exposed the anti-Punjab face of congress.

Disclosing the development programmes of the government, the Deputy Chief Minister said that in the next 6 months Rs. 2000 crore would be spent on the all round development of Ludhiana. Besides this, the State Government has also decided to provide every basic infrastructural facility in all the grain markets of the state within 1 year. He said that the state government would unleash a new era of development in the annals of Punjab which is not being digested by some opposition parties. He appealed to the party workers to participate in large numbers the Sadbhavna rally of 28th November to be held in Moga and make it a grand success.On the occasion, Irrigation Minister , Punjab, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Manpreet Singh Iyaali, Ranjit Singh Talwandi, R.S. Kaler (all MLAs), Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, Chairman Amrik Singh Aliwal, Ex- Minister Hira Singh Gabria, Madan Lal Bagga and Harbhajan Singh Dang (Both District President Akali Dal) and other leaders and workers were also present.
