Devender Singh Rana calls for massive public initiative in ensuring sanitation, cleanliness

Provincial President National Conference and MLA Nagrota Devender Singh Rana on Monday called for a massive initiative in ensuring cleanliness and sanitation, particularly in semi-urban and rural areas while emphasising the importance of public health.Laying foundation stone of Sulabh Swachaliya at Nagrota, the nerve centre of adjoining eleven Panchayats, this afternoon, Rana said the toilet facilities are needed to be created at every public place.Appreciating this imperative, he said yet another initiative has been taken in Nagrota where the toilet block, costing Rs 12 lakhs will be constructed on modern lines out of his Constituency Development Fund.
He announced a similar facility for Dhansal, the tehsil headquarters, and said his Endeavour will be on upgrading civic facilities alongside pursuing the development effort single-mindedly. He attached immense significance to public hygiene and urged the government to attend to this aspect on priority. “Several schemes have been tailored in this regard and Nagrota should get its share in the schemes formulated by the State Government and the Centre”, he said while referring to the strategic location of this constituency in close vicinity of the capital city.
Rana said the vision of Nagrota being transformed into Nava Jammu will not be realized without the active cooperation of the people. In this context, he expressed his gratitude to the residents of the constituency for standing by him through thick and thin and in every effort by providing necessary suggestions and feedback from time to time. He said public participation in development of Nagrota constituency has been immense, which, he maintained, encourages him to carry forward his cherished agenda by knocking every door.
He enumerated various unique and out of box developmental initiatives taken in the Nagrota Assembly Constituency during the past eight months and said these are now showing results on ground. “Making Nagrota a model constituency is a dream for us all”, he told the people and pledged that being their representative they will not find him wanting. He said his endeavor would be to get the developmental machinery moving so that targets fixed are achieved in a time bound manner.
