Capt Amarinder promises round the clock power in state at all costs

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today promised round the clock power for domestic and industrial sector in the state. He said, no matter from where the state will need to get power it will ensure round the clock supply. He also announced that the government will not charge any bills for the tube-well connections in the kandi area.

Addressing an impressive public rally organised in support of the party candidate from Dasuya assembly segment Ramesh Chander Dogra, he said, in the last term also his government had ensured round the clock power after buying it from outside and next Congress government will again ensure it.

The PCC President ridiculed the power surplus promises of the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal, pointing out that even during the lean season the industry was facing three day power cuts and domestic segment was also not getting proper supply. He said, the Badals had survived these five years by telling lies only.

He lashed out at the Akali-BJP alliance government for its all round failure. He said, the government particularly the Badals had only indulged in rampant corruption and grabbing everything like sand mining, liquor trade, transport business and cable operations.

He also announced that not only will the Congress government finish the monopoly of cable operations patronized by the Badal family, but it will also ensure that the monthly cable rent is not more than Rs 100.

The former Chief Minister announced that the Congress government will lay special focus on the industrialization of the kandi belt. He said, after the introduction of the Land Acquisition Act passed by the parliament no canal irrigated land can be acquired for industry and the obvious choice was the kandi belt and areas like Talwara and surroundings will get benefitted.

Capt Amarinder announced that of the six new medical colleges to be opened in Punjab, one will be opened up in Talwara. Responding to the demand by the local residents for taking over the BBMB hospital, he said, once the Congress comes to power the issue will be considered and taken up with the BBMB.

The PCC President also announced that the government will provide 75 per cent subsidy to the farmers who want to fence their land against the wild animals who damage their crops.

Speaking on the occasion, Congress incharge for Punjab Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak stressed upon the people to ensure that they bring Congress back to power. He said, the Congress workers had suffered lot of violence and excesses at the hands of the Akali-BJP government and now was the time to fix the guilty.

Earlier former minister and local candidate, Dr RC Dogra welcomed the senior leaders and expressed his gratitude to them for sparing time for the area. He read out the demands of the area.

Among others present on the occasion included PCC general secretary Fateh Jang Bajwa, former DGP SS Virk, DCC Hoshiarpur president Pradeep Nanda and others.
