Militants body found in Kupwara

Army on Tuesday recovered body of an unidentified militant near Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.A senior police official told that the body was found by army’s 41 RR who had launched search operation in forest areas of Trumnad and Kumkadi in Safawali sector near LoC since last two days.After conducting searches in the vast forest areas, the army in the afternoon recovered the body along with a rifle and other war like stores in a deep gorge near Kumkadi forest area, the officer said.The body was taken to the army’s 41 RR headquarter and was later handed over to concerned police station for further legal formalities, he said.

The officer said that the cause of death was yet to be ascertained, however, the initial investigations revealed that the militant might had slipped during heavy rains last week and fell down into the gorge.“A case has been registered and further investigations have been taken up”, the official added.Meanwhile, army’s 14 RR along with additional reinforcement of Para troopers who had already launched cordon-and-search operation in many forest areas of Bandipora following the killing of SI Altaf Ahmad in Gund Dachin last month.Today afternoon, the joint team of forces has intensified the cordon-and-search operation in Sumlar forest area following some gun shots in the area,” a police officer said.
