250 link roads, 70 culverts coming up in Kupwara district: Abdul haq

‘Chief Minister committed to provide better infrastructure, connectivity to rural areas’

Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq today launched a major project of road connectivity in District Kupwara.Under the program the State Government will construct 70 culverts and 250 link roads at the cost of Rs. 5 crores. In first, the Minister today inaugurated Helmatpora link road which will benefit thousands of people of the village. Minister said under this program government will construct link roads, cross roads and link roads in villages to benefit the local population.Stating that present dispensation led by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed to provide better infrastructure and connectivity, Abdul Haq said remote villages suffered for past many decades due to poor road connectivity.  "Bridges, culverts and link roads will connect the different villages and shorten distances which will benefit all especially students and peasants," he added.

The Minister further stated that the present government is for holistic development and empowerment of people, particularly the ones living in far-flung areas of the State.While interacting with the people in Helmatpora after inaugurating the road, Haq said the people of the State have given them a mandate to address their problems and fulfill their aspirations, and in this regard all possible measures shall be taken. He said development of rural and remote areas will be ensured by implementation of different Rural Developmental schemes that will be instrumental in changing socio-economic profile of the people living in these areas, besides providing them much needed employment opportunities.
