DDC reviews progress of works in health sector

District Development Commissioner Poonch, Mohammad Harun Malik Monday asked the officers of JKPCC and R&B to take into account the seismic vulnerability of the district while designing and executing important infrastructural projects in Health sector. Mr. Harun was chairing a meeting of officers here to review the progress of major development works in Health Sector.The DDC asked the officers of executing agencies to take into account the fact that district Poonch falls in Seismic Zone IV-V which must be factored in to ensure that important buildings like DH, SDHs, CHCs and PHCs withstand major disasters.The meeting discussed various issues regarding infrastructural projects in Health sector and the CMO briefed the DDC about the status of various works including construction of MO quarters, SCs, ADs, CHCs and PHCs.

Highlighting the importance of providing adequate accommodation to Medical Officers in rural areas, Harun asked the concerned agency to expedite the construction of quarters for Medical Officers at Mandi and Mendhar. Besides, he instructed the XEn R&B to ensure that first floor of emergency block at CHC Mendhar is completed in all respects before taking up work of rest of the building. The DDC also reviewed the status of work of ADs at Bedar Balnoi, Kasbalari and Seri Khawaja and passed on necessary directions to the executing agencies.Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mumtaz Bhatti, Chief Planning Officer, S R Bhagat, Superintendent District Hospital, Dr. Niaz Chouhan, XEn R&B, Mushtaq Raina, Deputy Director Planning, Farooq-e-Azam, AD Planning, Maqsood Choudhary, Deputy CMO, Dr. Zulfkar, BMO Mandi, Dr. Shamim Bhatti, BMO Mendhar, Dr. Parvez Khan, Dr. Fehmida Banday and Dr. Nighat Khawaja were among  others who attended the meeting.
