With an objective of improving relations between the police and common public, a police-public meet was organized by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu-Kathua-Samba Range Ashkoor Ahmed Wani and SSP Samba Joginder Singh at Bari Brahmana.A large number of people hailing from various sections of the society including political leaders, sarpanches and panches participated in the meet.Saleem Choudhary Board Member of Aquaf Islamia, Ramesh Chander, Vijay Singh Leader NC, Hardesh Kumar Dutta Ekta Shakti Pradhan, Chander Shekher (Parmandal), Chhaju Ram, Hem Raj (Parmanda), Rajiv Gupta, Tej Ram Dogra (PDF) and Avtar Singh were among the participants who expressed their views on the occasion.

The speakers were of the view that the overall crime rate in Bari Brahmana and Parmandal has drastically decreased due to the concerted efforts made by the district police.They expressed their concern over traffic related issues including overloading in public transport and frequent traffic jams at Bari Brahmana-Bishnah chowk and Industrial crossing chowk.While addressing the gathering, the DIG assured them that their traffic related problems will be resolved shortly as the District Police has been directed to assist the traffic police during the peak hours and also instructed SSP Samba for construction of police booth in the industrial crossing road so that the presence of local police always remains there. He directed SSP Samba to arrange parking slots for heavy vehicles from NHW, SIDCO lane to other convenient places.

The DIG requested the participants to assist the local police by providing timely information with regard to drug peddlers so that adequate preventive measures can be taken to save the society from social evils.Expressing concern over the blockage of NHW or other main roads by the public for redressal of their demands, the DIG said that before blocking any road, the concerned police station or police sub division should be informed about the problem so that their problems can be brought into the notice of concerned departments at appropriate forum. By doing this, not only the issues will get resolved but also the inconvenience caused to the public will be avoided. 

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Samba Joginder Singh requested the participants to assist the Police in saving precious lives from avoidable road accidents. He asked the people to motivate their children against rash driving and ensure crash helmets are used while riding two-wheelers.Expressing concern over the rampant increase in drug menace, he advised the people to keep a tab on the activities of their children to keep them away from drugs.Addl. SP Samba Faisel Qureshi, SDPO Bari Brahmana Kulbir Handa, SHO Bari Brahmana Bharat Sharma and SHO Purmandal Ashwani Kumar were also present in the meet.
