Vigilance Awareness Week:Inter-collegiate symposium, poster making competition held

In connection with celebrations of Vigilance Awareness Week, NSS units of Government Degree College Udhampur organized an inter-collegiate symposium and poster making competition on the topic “Role of youth in making India a corruption free nation” at the college, here today.District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was chief guest on the occasion.While interacting with the students, the DDC advised them to create awareness among the masses about the laws to fight corruption. He said that youth should play an important role to eradicate corruption from the society and help to promote transparency and good governance. 

Calling the students as ambassadors for spreading the message of eradicating corruption from the society, the DDC said that there is an immediate need to change the mindset of the students as well as youths about corruption.The DDC also deliberated upon the importance of cleanliness in our daily lives and stressed upon the students to come forward for making India clean and green.A large number of students hailing from different colleges of the district participated in the symposium and unanimously said that corruption should be eradicated from the society for the development of the country.In symposium, Sapna Devi from GDC Ramnagar managed to clinch the first spot while as Shavina Akhtar from GDC Udhampur and Akhatar Hussain Azad secured second and third positions respectively.   

In poster making competition, the students depicted various types of corruptions prevailing in the society. Palak Raina and Neha Mahajan from GDC Udhampur, Vishali Rajput from GDC Udhampur and Bhawna Rani of Bhartiya College of Education, Udhampur managed to secure first, second and third positions respectively. The Principal of the College Prof S S Bhalwal also addressed the gathering on the occasion. A panel of three judges including Dr Vipin Verma, Prof Rakesh Gupta and Dr Pankaj Sharma evaluated the performances of the students.At the end of symposium, the students and staff took Rashstriya Ekta Diwas pledge to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
