Glowing tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi on her 31st Martyrdom here today. On this occasion a function was organized at the Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana, where Congress workers recalled her services to the country and the great sacrifice she laid down to safeguard the unity and the integrity of the nation.Speaking on the occasion, the Senior Congress leader and Former DCC Pawan Dewan recalled how the late Prime Minister sacrificed her life for safeguarding the secularism and the unity and integrity of the country. “It was her immense and unfailing faith in the secular values that ultimately led to her paying with her life”, he said, while adding, all the congressmen must learn from her great sacrifice which has hardly any parallel in the modern history.

He said the Gandhi family had a tradition of sacrifice for the country. He pointed out, it was not only Ms Gandhi alone, but her son late Rajiv Gandhi also who laid down his life for the unity and integrity of the country. The workers observed a two minutes silence in the memory of their leader after paying floral tributes on her portrait.On this occasion Palwinder Singh Taggar, Satwinder Jawaddi, Vinod Bathla, Baljinder Bunty, Sunil Dutt, Rohit Pahwa, Balwinder Bedi, Rohit Pahwa, Navnish Malhotra, Sadhu Ram Singhi, Sanjiv Ahuja, Rohit Chopra, Ramesh Handa, Dr. R.K Sharma, Naresh Chanalia, Kapil Kishore Gupta, Desraj Rajasthani, Rajnish Chopra, Avtar Singh Kanda, Kamal Sharma. Dr. Onkar Chand Sharma, Bhadur Singh, Narinder Singh Sura, Pradeep Sharma were also present.
