Dr. Nirmal Singh directs for speedy restoration of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex

Asks for opening complex for visitors soon

Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today chaired a meeting to review the ongoing restoration works at Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex and said that the restoration work should be expedited so that the complex can be opened for visitors soon.Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi was also present in the meeting.During the meeting all the issues pertaining to the restoration works of the heritage complex were discussed briefly and the Deputy CM was informed about the status of the ongoing works.Deputy CM stressed upon the executing agencies to complete the restoration works as soon as possible so that the visitors can visit the historical monument of Dogra rulers. The restoration works should be done keeping in view the historical importance of the complex, he added.

He also directed the agencies to complete the renovation works of Dogra museum on priority and instructed Archeological Survey of India to identify the defunct items which can be removed and also to identify the place to install latest equipments including Air Conditioners, luminary and Public Address System in the heritage complex.Deputy CM directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to submit the DPR of proposed Multi tier parking at the complex so that the further formalities would be initiated.  It was also asked to JMC to remove the debris from the complex and to carry out a cleanliness drive to maintain the beauty of the place.Discussing about the coronation platform in the central park of the complex, Dr Singh said that the platform should be renovated in its original form as it has great historical importance.

Director Floriculture Ashok Kumar Gupta informed the Deputy CM that the fencing work is going on and out of four, three fountains have been repaired and the repair work of the last fountain is under process.Dr Singh directed the tourism department to install the thematic ‘light & sound’ show on the history of Dogras in Gol Ghar area so that the visitors besides enjoying the show also can have the view of Bahu Fort, Mohmaya Temple and river Tawi.

It was also decided in the meeting that the next review meeting would be conducted in the Heritage Complex.Divisional Commissioner Dr Pawan Kotwal, IGP Jammu Danesh Rana, Secretary to Government Culture Department J&K Hemant Kumar Sharma, JMC Commissioner Manpreet Kaur, Vice Chairman JDA Mubarak Singh, Director Tourism Jammu R K Varma, ADC Jammu Anuradha Gupta, Director Floriculture Ashok Kumar Gupta, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Alok Mengi and Superintending Archaeologist ASI, Srinagar Circle S K Ghani were also present in the meeting.
