Lal Singh reviews achievements under District Plan in Udhampur

Directs for implementation of DDB decisions in letter & spirit

Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Ch Lal Singh who is also Chairman of District Development Board Udhampur reviewed implementation of decisions of the District Development Board at a DDB review meeting convened here today.Minister of State for Finance and IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Vice Chairman, JK State Advisory Board for SC/ST, Bharat Bhushan, MLA Ramnagar, R.S. Pathania, MLA  Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat, District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary , all HODs besides all district officers of various departments of district Udhampur attended the meeting.Calling for need based development and quality work, Ch Lal Singh stressed on the utilization of allocated funds for various developmental works to the full. He said the officers will be made accountable for implementation of all the programs and schemes under execution in their respective jurisdictions.

Mr. Lal Singh directed all the officers of various departments to work as a team for the overall development of the Udhampur district. He stressed upon the officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, and Floriculture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry departments to work with zeal and dedication for the welfare of the farming community and explore maximum possibilities to create marketing avenues for the sale of farmers produce for their socio economic upliftment.Lal Singh reiterated government’s resolve to initiate e-tendering process for ensuring transparency and accountability in the system and ensure benefits reach the target populace.He also directed the forest department to conceive innovative project for checking deforestation and for maintaining ecological balance. He also stressed the need for planting good quality fruit trees in the potential areas of the district for boosting horticulture for the benefit of farming community.

Minister of State for Finance and IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta stressed the need to expedite the construction work of tourist Sarai Panra   and developing Gangera hill, Panchari and Sankri Devta site as tourist spots by tourism department. He demanded early completion of construction work of Udhampur stadium by Sports Council J&K and Trauma Centre at Udhampur. He asked the Director Local Bodies to start the work of waste management plant at Udhampur within two months. He asked for providing funds for grid station and replacement of transformers. He stressed on expediting works on WSS besides other ongoing development works.

Earlier, District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary briefed the meeting about the physical and financial progress achieved under different schemes/sectors in the district and gave a detailed resume of achievements under PHE, PDD, PWD, PMGSY, Education and Health, Irrigation, Social Welfare and Agriculture Department. He also presented a detailed review of Schemes/programmes under Swachh Bharat, MGNREGA, IAY, Health, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture, SSA and NHM sectors.The DDC Udhampur apprised the Chairman about the project Rahat, which envisages the construction of 110 bridges in the district by March 2016, for better connectivity, ensuring education, securing lives and livelihood and 204 water harvesting tanks, besides construction of 445 schools and fencing & plantation on state land. He also informed that total Capital component for Udhampur district for the year 2015-16 has been approved at Rs 166.31 crore.

He apprised the chair about action taken report on the decisions taken in the District Development Board meeting and the status of implementations on date. MLA Ramnagar R S Pathania lauded the efforts of district administration in expediting the development works. He suggested for creating a separate Development Authority for bringing Dudu-Basantgarh  on the tourism map. He said the area has huge tourism potential with many places that can act as a great attraction for the adventure and leisure tourism.  He also called for exploring the possibility of development of herbal research centre in the area to tap the rich herbal medicines found in the forests of the area. He further demanded transformer repair workshop in Ramnagar.MLA Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat demanded blacktopping of Chenani Pattan Garh road. He also demanded funds for Ritti Batla and Mani Water Supply Schemes besides 3.15 MVA receiving station at Sudhmahadev and urged for early replacement of electric poles at Chenani.
