Vigilance awareness week inaugurated

District Vigilance officer Reasi, Shiv Kumar Gupta (Additional District Magistrate) inaugurated the vigilance awareness week here today.The Reasi district administration has devised this week-long programme for celebrating vigilance week across the district. Speaking on the occasion, Gupta elaborated on the theme of the Vigilance week, “Preventive vigilance as a tool for Good Governance” and said that fight against corruption is seen as a job of few anti-corruption agencies whereas in reality, it is responsibility of every citizen and organization. He said that for removing corruption from our society, strategy and sustained commitment will be required from all stakeholders including government organizations, civil society, private sector and common man.

Gupta said that transparency and accountability are effective tools for curbing corruption. He further informed that citizenry is more crucial than the most sophisticated code of conduct, laws and regulation in preventing corruption and unethical behavior. He stressed upon all officers of all the departments to widely disseminate the information on Corruption Act and rules to minimize the scope of corruption.He called upon the officers to work with dedication, honesty, sincerity and not to indulge in any type of corruption. Among others, Kamal Sangra Inspector UDR vigilance range and Farooq Shan Inspector UDR vigilance range also spoke on the topic and responded to the queries of students, PRIs, who were also present in the programme.
