Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today paid homage to the martyrs of 1947 tribal raid during a function organized by Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 from POK (MJR-47).The Deputy Chief Minister, while addressing a mammoth gathering of refugees of Punjab, Haryana, UP, Rajasthan and Chandigarh, asked the concerned to prepare a comprehensive proposal for construction of a Martyrs memorial with a research institute in specific field.Spelling out government’s initiatives of safeguarding the interests of refugees, the Deputy Chief Minister said that a special relief package for the displaced persons of 1947, 1965 and 1971,  is expected to be sanctioned soon. He said that the State and Centre Governments are keen to sort out all the issues of refugees in a total pragmatic and logical way. He said that the NDA Government is well abreast with the pain of refugees and is working hard to mitigate their sufferings at all level.Prominent representatives of refugees from different States projected various demands and problems including reservation of ward of displaced persons, employment and financial packages, fresh registration of displaced persons families as the old registered families units have expanded , etc.MLC Charanjeet Singh Khalsa who is also the founder member of MJR-47, Dr. Narinder Singh, Suchwant Singh, J. S. Sudan and other dignitaries also paid tributes to the martyrs.
