Dr Shehnaz chairs Assurance Committee meeting

Stresses on fulfillment of Government Assurances in a time bound manner

The Committee on Government Assurances of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council Wednesday directed the Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UD) to gear up their field functionaries and ensure fulfillment of all Government Assurances pertaining to their department especially given in previous budget session.The Committee met here today with MLC Dr. Shehnaz Ganai in chair and discussed in detail various Government Assurances besides overall functioning of the Municipal Corporations and these departments.Legislators, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Monga and Mr. Ali Mohammad Dar gave their suggestions in making quick disposal of Government Assurances pertaining to the U&HD.The panel discussed the action taken reports of various Government Assurances given by the department especially in last budget session including an assurance by Jugal Kishore Sharma regarding implementation of High Court directions about illegal constructions in twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar.

Another assurance taken up by Ghulam Nabi Monga regarding removing the illegal encroachment across the Dal Lake was also under discussed.Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Mr. Bipul Pathak briefed the committee about the steps taken by the department on the same. He informed the committee that more than 600 illegal structures have been demolished across the Dal Lake from last six months.The Chairperson also sought report on previous Government Assurances given by the department from time to time as early as possible and stressed for early completion of the same.Municipal Commissioner, Jammu, Ms Mandeep Kour, Municipal Commissioner, Srinagar/Vice Chairman, LAWDA, Mr. Showkat Zargar, Director, Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, Mr. Tufail Mattoo, Director, Land Management SDA, Dr. Nasir Ahmed, Chief Town Planner, Kashmir and Jammu, besides other senior officers from concerned departments and Council Secretariat were also attended the meeting.
