5th day Navratra celebrations at Katra

A scintillating shobha yatra cum cultural procession depicting rich culture of the state and other parts of the Country was held at Katra on 5th day of the ongoing Navratra festival here last evening.Director, Song and Drama Division New Delhi, Chaitanya Prasad, who was the chief guest on the occasion, lit the sacred Jyoti before the start of Shobha yatra.Navratra Festival is being organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) and Department of Tourism in collaboration with District Administration and local organizations at Katra.Deputy Director, Song & Drama division, Manoj Bansal, SDM Katra Anil Kumar, SP Katra Sumeer Kotwal, AD Tourism Katra, senior officers of different departments, members of Navratra Celebration Committee, Hotel Association Katra, prominent citizens and large number of people were present on the occasion.

The impressive Shoba Yatra was taken out from Asia crossing which after passing through the main bazaars and other locations of the Katra town culminated at Chintamani Mandir.  Besides, colorful Jhankies and  traditional dances  of different regions like  Ladakhi, Geetru, Kud and  Bal Devta’s roop, Bhagwan Parshoram roop, Shanidev roop, Karan Vadh scene, view of Parvati gourikund, scene of Dogri jhalak, Bhagwan Ram-Sita marriage scene, Krishna-Sudhama Milan scene, View of Dangal, yatar of Mata  and various scenes from Ramayana and Mahabharata were presented.Later, Director also attended the 5th day of All India devotional song competition 2015 as a chief guest.As many as, 13 participants took part in the competition.Similarly, artists of Song and Drama Division, Ministry of I&B, Government of India presented a colorful cultural programme based on folk songs and dances of different regions  of the country, in the premises of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Katra.
