All Parties Huriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal chief, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq Friday said instead of hacking at the leaves, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi should address the root cause of Kashmir issue.“Kashmir is not an administrative or an economic problem but a political issue,” the party spokesman in a statement issued to GNS quoting Mirwaiz as having said while addressing people at Chrar-e-Sharief after offering Friday congregational prayers at the shrine of Alamdaar-e-Kashmir, Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.Mirwaiz said Government of India’s promises of development projects, economic packages and economic stability were a farce until it showed the will to resolve Kashmir issue through peaceful means of dialogue.

He said resolution of vexed Kashmir issue was a must for lasting peace and political stability of entire South Asia and it was not an issue that could be resolved by extending political favours, economic packages, job bonanzas and subsidies but by taking a political initiative.Mirwaiz said New Delhi should realize the international community now understands the seriousness of resolving Kashmir issue and only the resolution of this long-pending dispute could guarantee lasting peace, development and prosperity in the region.Terming Kashmir resolution inevitable, he said keeping the issue pending had hijacked the peace of the entire region for the past seven decades and put the lives of billions of people at stake.Mirwaiz said for avoiding any such disaster, there was a need to resolve Kashmir keeping in minds the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris.

Recalling the efforts of the Bharatiya Janta Party-led government of the former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said Vajpayee had understood that Kashmir is a political and a human issue and its resolution was a necessity for the peace and prosperity of the entire South Asian Region.Mirwaiz said moving ahead in this direction, the Vajpayee government had initiated a process of dialogue and engagement with Islamabad as well as with the Kashmiri leadership. He advised the incumbent government in New Delhi that instead of using its military might and adopting a military approach and unleashing a reign of terror in Kashmir, they should follow the policies of their former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and initiate a process of dialogue and engagement.Rejecting New Delhi’s recent stand at the United Nations, the APHC Chairman said the so-called election process in Jammu Kashmir had neither changed the reality of Kashmir dispute in the past nor would it in the future. He said the so-called election process in Jammu Kashmir had nothing to do with the disputed nature of Kashmir, which had also been clarified by the United Nations.

Asking people to be vigilant against the nefarious designs of the Government, the Mirwaiz said a number of issues like abrogation of Article 370, ban on slaughter of cows, implementing of Common Civil Code, settlement of retired troops in Kashmir, establishing cluster homes for Kashmiri Pandits are raked up from time to time for taking their attention off Kashmir dispute and its resolution. He said pro-India political parties in Kashmir were working for their own benefits and their failure to help the flood-hit victims and leaving them at the mercy of the Almighty Allah for more than a year and a half now had exposed them in front of the people.Mirwaiz said that the peaceful activities of the resistance leadership are being disallowed by using the military might and people are crushed even for organising peaceful protests.

He said all political, economic, religious and human rights of the people of Kashmir were being crushed and the recent ban on sacrificing bovine animals on Eid-ul-Azha, raising communal passions in Jammu after attacking Kashmiri truck drivers and use of force on peaceful protestors in Kashmir had become an everyday affair.Mirwaiz said resolution of Kashmir issue is the utmost priority of APHC and the conglomerate would not allow the sacrifices of thousands of people of Kashmir go waste. He said Kashmir was also face-to-face with problems like domestic violence, drug addiction, moral degradation, extravaganza in marriages and suicides, which had no scope in an Islamic society.Mirwaiz said Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema have in this regard resolved to meet head on all these challenges that the Kashmiri society is facing. He also paid tributes to the Alamdaar-e-Kashmir, Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani for his contribution to spreading Islam in the region and for taking the message of Quran and edicts to the common masses with his Kashmiri couplets.Earlier, the people of Charar-e-Sharief welcomed the Mirwaiz wholeheartedly.
