Mushtaq Ahmed Lone and Mr. Suresh Kumar Sharma.Mr. Deva, Chairman, apprised the Governor about the various initiatives taken by the Commission to deal with the large backlog of work and to revitalize the functioning of the institution which had been lying defunct since October 2014.The Governor had extensive discussions with the Chairman and Members regarding certain regulatory issues and suggested early action to introduce the required amendments to introduce harmony.

Pointing out the high constitutional status of the Commission the Governor stressed the crucial importance of the JKPSC maintaining unimpeachable standards in its selection procedures and conduct of examinations. He observed that the candidates selected by the Commission would be serving the State for at least 30-35 years or more and it was, therefore important to ensure that only the very best were selected. Any compromise in strictly enforcing truly transparent processes and procedures may lead to the second best being picked up, which would impact adversely on the functioning of the administrative apparatus.
