India and Bangladesh held talks for cooperation in fields of Science, Technology, Oceanography, Earth Sciences and Atomic Energy

India and Bangladesh have held bilateral talks for cooperation in fields of Science, Technology, Oceanography, Earth Sciences and Atomic Energy among others. Detailed discussions were held when the visiting Bangladesh delegation led by its Minister for Science & Technology Shri Yeafesh Osman met the Indian side led by the Union Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Harsh Vardhan in New Delhi today. India assured Bangladesh that it would get all the help in various sectors of Science & Technology including in the field of Atomic Energy. It was conveyed that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had given instructions to extend every kind of help as asked by the Bangladesh.
Earlier, Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that India and Bangladesh share a common cultural heritage and a special relation. He said that both the countries should identify various areas for cooperation in the field of Oceanography, Earth Sciences, in the field of Water treatment for Arsenic or in any other field for the benefit of people of that country. The Minister recalled his meetings with various leaders of Bangladesh including the Prime Minister of the Country Ms. Sheikh Hasina when he had visited that country earlier. The Bangladesh Minister Shri Yeafesh Osman has said that his country is grateful to India for its support during its freedom struggle. He said that the recent resolution of boundary issue between the two countries shows the kind of extra ordinary friendly relations between the two countries, its leaders and its people. Shri Osman said that Prime Ministers of both the countries are very keen for putting the Science and Technology to use for the benefit of the people and the cooperation in this field should further strengthen the bilateral bonds.Government is looking forward to adopt any technological solutions that could be offered by scientists for the benefit of the country and the poor – says Minister for Science & Technology Dr. Harsh Vardhan
Union Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that Shri Narendra Modi Government is looking forward for technological solutions to be provided by Scientific community for the benefit of the country and its poor people. Inaugurating a two day Convocation of the International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS) in New Delhi today, he said the Prime Minister is very keen for application of Science to various programmes like Swachh Bharat, Skill Development and others.He said CAETS as a premier non-governmental international organization of engineering and technological sciences academies of 26 countries; has an important role to play in advising Governments and international organizations on issues related to engineering with the objective of contributing to the advancement of science and technology and promoting sustainable economic growth of nations across the world.
CAETS Convocation will discuss Pathways to Sustainability in fields of : Energy, Mobility and Healthcare Engineering –which has been chosen as theme for this year.The Conference will have technical sessions on various subjects like Energy, Mobility (transportation, electrical vehicles, low carbon pathways, etc) Health, Information Technology among other sectors with national & international experts sharing their views on such subjects.Earlier, the Secretary, Department of Science & Technology Prof. Ashutosh Sharma said that the Government will be looking forward for the recommendations from this Conference.Delivering his address during the Plenary Session, the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet Dr. Chidambaram has said that there should be ‘Sustainability with Equity’ as we go ahead on the path of progress. He said India is committed to cut down on its emissions – as being advocated by the Environment Minister Shri Prakash Javedkar.Former, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, Dr. Anil Kakodkar in his speech discussed the Energy scenarios and future prospects for the country.Later various sectors specialists presented their views relating to the fields of energy engineering, engineering medicines for global society and mobility engineering relating to issues of transportation.
