Model Degree College for Women coming up at Kupwara at a cost of Rs 10.84 cr: Priya Sethi

Minister of State for Education, s. Priya Sethi informed the House that administrative approval for the construction of Model Degree College for Women at Kupwara was accorded at an estimated cost of Rs 10.84 crore and the construction work of the college building was assigned to the JKPCC.Replying to a question by  Bashir Ahmad Dar in the House, the Minister said that an amount of Rs 2 crore stand already released for construction of the College building.The Minister said that construction work of the college building was started in 2014 and the foundation work has been completed upto plinth beam, filling work upto plinth beam has been completed upto 80% besides, the construction work of the super structure columns is in progress.

The Minister further informed that an area of 77 kanals and 17 marlas of land has been acquired through DC Kupwara involving compensation amount of about Rs 7.34 crore, against which Rs 4.41 crore stand released to the concerned Collector for land acquisition.The Minister said that during current financial year Rs 112.50 lakh has been released to the DC Kupwara for its disbursement to the rest of the land owners adding that the balance compensation amounting to Rs 180.12 lakh will be paid depending on availability of funds.
