DDC reviews progress of ICDS and social welfare

To assess the physical and financial achievements of various schemes of ICDS and social welfare departments, District Development Commissioner Ramban, Bashir Ahmed Dar, convened a meeting at Ramban today.It was informed by District Programme Officer, Ashok Pandita that the main target groups of ICDS are children below six years, Pregnant and nursing ladies and adolescent girls  who are being provided basic six services like supplementary nutrition, Pre-school education,  nutrition and health education, Immunization, health check up and Referral as per the guidelines of the scheme. There are 4 ICDS projects in the district with 803 Anganwadi centers benefiting 32120 numbers of beneficiaries.

District Social Welfare Officer Ramban, Varunjeet Singh Charak gave a resume of all schemes and informed that in social welfare sector 9356 number of beneficiaries of all categories are being provided the old age, widow and handicapped pensions besides 6672 applications are lying in pendency.DDC directed the Programme Officer to bring innovative techniques for supervising and inspecting the Anganwadi centers by involving PRIs to implement the scheme at grass root level. He further instructed that the tendering process of nutrition items be completed as soon as possible in order to avoid any financial lapse.DDC directed the District Social welfare officer to expedite the process of clearing up all pending cases of old age, widow and handicapped pensions besides post and pre- metric scholar ships cases. He further emphasized him to consult bank branches for first hand record of all beneficiaries applied under AASRA and other centrally sponsored schemes.Among others present in the meet were CPO Parshotam Kumar, AD Planning, Tehsil Officers etc.
