Congress stages walkout, NC boycotts LA despite revocation of suspended legislators

While as opposition National Conference boycotted fourth day of the ongoing autumn session of the Assembly, Congress legislators and Independent MLAs Wednesday staged walkout during the Question Hour after the speaker did not allow discussion on the security situation and unemployment problem prevailing in the state.As the Legislative Assembly started its Question Hour this morning, the Congress legislators stood up from their benches and sought discussion on their adjournment motions seeking debate on the recent civilian killings in the Valley.Congress legislator Usman Majeed said law and order is a serious issue and needs to be discussed during the Question Hour.Another Congress MLA Aijaz Ahmad Khan said that the killings have recently taken place in Kashmir which was a grave concern and needed to be discussed in the House.

He also demanded immediate relief to the victims of border skirmishes.Congress MLA G M Saroori said 900 ceasefire violations have taken place from across the LoC and must be discussed on the floor of the House.The Congress legislators tried to storm into the Well but were prevented by the marshals. They were carrying placards which read, “Probe recent civilian killings.”Independent MLAs, MY Tarigami and Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen sought discussion on their adjournment motions on unemployment problem in J&K. “Unemployment creates uncertainty in the state,” he said.After the Speaker didn’t allow the discussion on these issues, the Congress legislators, MY Tarigami and Hakeem Yaseen staged walk out.Er Abdul Rashid sought the discussion on the bill of beef ban in the state. “Unlike the PDP, NC, Congress and BJP, I am a true secular. I have moved a resolution to discuss beef ban and want discussion on it,” he said.However, the Speaker told Rashid he will reply only once he checked.Meanwhile, Rashid continued to disrupt on and off legislators and ministers during their speech.However, NC did not attend the session and remained off the house despite revocation of the suspension orders of their members in both Houses of the Legislature.
