Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura takes stock of timber position in Budgam, directs proper, timely distribution

The department of Forests has dumped 1.10 lakh cft of timber, out of fixed target of 1.40 lakh cft for its distribution among the deserved consumers of the district Budgam.This information was given to Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura during a meeting, convened to discuss and review the stock position of timber and its distribution here today.The meeting also discussed the issues pertaining to providing of timber to flood, landslides victims and supply of firewood during Muharram in the district.It was informed in the meeting that 12,600 cft of timber was especially allocated for the distribution of flood victims of the district. 5000 quintals of firewood has also been made available for the deserved families during Muharram.Mr. Hanjura directed the concerned to issue timber among the landslide victims of Chauntinar, Laden, Branwar, Negoo and Surisyar villages on priority.The Minister also reviewed, overall protection scenario in the forests of Branwar, Surisyar, Nilnag and Yousmarg areas and directed the concerned officials to take up plantation at the degraded areas in the district.While stressing on rationalization of distribution of available timber, Mr. Hanjura directed the officials to clear long pending requisitions  at an earliest before issuing new sanctions.The meeting was attended by the Divisional Forest Officer, Peerpanchal Division Mr. Wasim Farooq, Range Officer, Doodganga and other officers of forest department.
