Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik who was scheduled to address a public gathering at Kangan today, was arrested along with many JKLF leaders and activists near Zakura when he was on his way to Kangan.According to a statement issued to KNS, among those arrested with Mohammad Yasin Malik included Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Mushtaq Ajmal, Muhammad Sideeq shah, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Muhammad Amin Mugloo, Prof Javed, Fayaz Ahmad, Shakir Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad Muhammad Irfan, Basharat Ahmad, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Abdullah and others.

Despite these arrests, restrictions and blockades, another JKLF delegation led by Zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal managed to reach Kangan and addressed a gathering at central Chowk. Those who addressed the gathering included Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Sheikh Abdul Rashid and Bashir Ahmad Rather ( Boya) and Syed Nisar Jeelani etc. A protest rally was also held and the participants protested against choking of political space and arresting JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and others.

Condemning the choking of political space and restrictions on every kind of peaceful political activities in Jammu Kashmir, Incarcerated JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik said that a country whose leaders and governments declare Ghandi Jee as their father of nation and celebrate his days and publicize his philosophy of non-violence before the international community with pride, have turned Jammu Kashmir into a big prison and concentration camp where nobody is allowed to speak or act freely and where a blanket ban has been imposed on all kinds of peaceful activities.Mohammad Yasin Malik said that credit should be given to British rulers who never choked space on Ghandi or any other leader of his time and actually facilitated their peaceful activities. he said that if one looks fairly into history ,it was the generosity and democratic approach of the British rulers that along with other things made it possible for Ghandi and others to continue freely with their struggle  and actually made Ghandi and others popular leaders but contrary to that Indian rulers and governments have actually used the name of Ghandi only to hide their crimes against humanity and have instead of providing space for peaceful political activities laid a blanket ban on all such activities in Jammu Kashmir.

Yasin Malik said that from last four months no one has been allowed to even open his tongue in kashmir. Anyone that attempts to visit some village and meet people, is either house arrested or arrested by police. Despite all these repressive acts, PDP rulers with utmost shamelessness and brazenness claim “battle of ideas” and “no bullet but talks” ideologies as their policy and no journalist, writer or intellectual present in these meetings finds courage to question these false claims. No one asks these rulers that if these ideas are dearer to them why they have put a ban on peaceful activities in Jammu Kashmir. Why are all political programs including hunger strike being stopped by police force. Why is an ailing woman leader Asiya Andrabi not being released despite court orders? Yasin Malik said that if these rulers and their masters in Delhi have some shame left they should fight their political opponents on political front and not use police force against the peaceful resistance camp.

Yasin Malik said that arrests, jails, restrictions, choking political space and unilateral state sponsored violence cannot stop people of Jammu Kashmir from resisting Indian wrath and these so-called rulers should bear in mind that humans can be jailed or restricted but sentiments and ideologies can never be caged.Meanwhile despite restrictions and arrests, a JKLF delegation managed to reach Kangan and held a public Jalsa at Kangan main Chowk. A strong protest was held against choking of political space and arresting JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and others. Addressing the gathering JKLF leaders Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Sheikh Abdul Rashid and Bashir Ahmad Boya stressed upon the people to remain steadfast and resist oppression of India with passion. (KNS)
