Solid waste management plan discussed

To discuss the preparation of Solid Waste Management Plan of Udhampur town, the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mrs. Yasha Mudgal convened a meeting with the line departments here on Monday. The meeting was attended by the various line departments which include the officer of Planning, Forest, Municipal Council, Agriculture, Horticulture, Health Department, Pollution control and NGOs Pardison.During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held regarding the successful implementation of the Solid Waste Management plan which mainly include  present status of Garbage disposal, strategy to be adopted to resolve the problems, role of District Administration, line department, local NGOs &  prominent citizens, suggestion of district officers, NGOs & senior citizens, Check of Polythene bags, General Masses  Awareness through NSS Volunteers, Civil Defence Volunteers, NCC cadets and drum beating and resource management for garbage, disposal Bins & Recycle Bins etc.

Addressing the meeting, the DDC exhorted upon the concerned officers and other participants to put in their sincere and coordinated efforts well in advance for the successful implementation of solid waste management plan at Udhampur town so that Udhampur town  environmental clearance.  Stressing the need for generating greater awareness about the polythene ban among the masses in general, the DDC has called upon the concern officer to put in their best efforts in educating the masses. In the meeting, the IAS Probationer, Mr. Ravindra Kumar gave a detailed account of the preparation of Solid Waste Management Plan for Udhampur Town. The DDC directed the line departments to prepared plan for Vermi-Compost (organic manure) from municipal waste at Solid Waste Management Project at Udhampur was put on sale for the general public.
