DGP inspects police constructions in North Kashmir, commissions Model Police Station Bomai

Underscoring the importance of Thanas in reaching out to the common masses, Jammu and Kashmir Police is upgrading the infrastructure and functioning of police stations across the State. A police station is the first responder to the complaints of the people, who have much faith and expectations with the basic unit of the Organization.This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Ashok Prasad, while commissioning the new Model Police Station building at Bomai Sopore and alternate accommodation at Tragpora in North Kashmir today. He said that in view of the increasing responsibilities, the Organization has been focussing to upgrade the working conditions for its personnel as per the latest requirements. Constructions are made keeping in mind the modern facilities and techniques of construction, he added.Under the modernization programme of the Organization, Mr. Prasad commissioned new building of Model Police Station Bomai in Sopore today. The building having latest facilities was constructed by the Police Housing Corporation at a cost of Rs. 1.6 crores in a record period time of one year. Before commissioning the building, the DGP was briefed by Managing Director, J&K Police Housing Corporation (JKPHC), Mr. Dilbagh Singh about the construction of Model Police Station. He was told that the building, in the midst of its jurisdiction is having hostel facilities and residential quarters. It would help to provide better policing to the people with quick response.Similarly, under the alternate accommodation programme, 

Mr. Prasad also commissioned two new buildings having barracks at Tragpore in North Kashmir, constructed by JKPHC at a cost of Rs. 3. 4 crore. After commissioning, these buildings were handed over to the concerned units to accommodate the jawans and officers. He said that with the completion of various constructions, alternate accommodation has been provided to the security forces, thus restoring the position of educational institutions and other government buildings under their use.The DGP appreciated the efforts of the officers and engineers of Police Housing Corporation for ensuring quality material and time bound construction of the buildings. He asked them to keep in mind weather scenario of the particular area before finalizing the plans of construction in that area. He said that the constructions should be equipped with latest facilities of living and working including recreational facilities for the personnel, who are always found busy facing tough situations. Mr. Prasad also inspected other works presently under execution and discussed the pace of progress achieved in North Kashmir. MD JKPHC, apprised the DGP about the present status of these constructions. He assured that all the constructions would be completed within the time frame.The DGP was accompanied by ADGP (Coordination), Mr. P. L. Gupta, DIG (NKR), Mr. J. P. Singh, AIG (Personnel) Mr. G. H. Bhat, SsP, Mr. Zubair Ahmed and Mr. Imtaz Hussain, SE (JKPHC) Mr. Sudhir Kumar Shah, Xen, (JKPHC), Mr. Nissar Ahmed Bhat and other senior police officers.
