Renuka Dam to be completed soon :Virbhadra Singh

The State government is looking into the irregularities being committed by few who cheated the people of Renuka area by drawing power of attorney in their names and selling the same on higher rates further to the company constructing the Dam.Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh stated this while addressing a massive public meeting at Sangrah in Sirmaur district of Renuka assembly segment today. He said that it would be ensured in future that where-ever the cases regarding acquisition of land were concerned for development projects, adequate compensation was paid to the actual owners of the land. He cautioned the people not to give power of attorney to other persons who try taking advantage of poor landless farmers.Shri Virbhadra Singh said the Renuka Dam project would soon be completed in near future.

The Chief Minister announced upgradation of Nohra Dhar Sub Tehsil to Tehsil and to make Dadahu tehsil soon in the near future. He announced to start science and commerce classes in GC Sangrah from next academic session and said the government would give grant to PTA teachers who would be deployed against vacant posts.He also announced opening of Block Elementary Education Office at Sangrah, upgradation of Nohradhar Primary Health Centre to Community Health Centre, opening of HPSEB electrical sub division and 33 KV sub-station at Sangrah and adequate financial assistance to Rajana-Maina-Baunal Irrigation Schemes.Counting developments of the area, the Chief Minister said that a sum Rs.  70 lakh  was being spent on Ratwa to Gehal road, Rs 3.70 crore on Sainj to Shivpur road and Rs 78  lakhs on Dr. Prem Singh Memorial Stadium at Maina, The work of Renuka Shrine Board building was also being undertaken by spending rupees one crore.

Referring to BJP MLA from Nahan, the Chief Minister said that the people of Nahan should refrain from the tactics of such people who try to lure people and always take benefit of the schemes or development works being done by others.The Chief Minister also handed over the papers of three biswas of Nautor land to the 12 eligible landless/ houseless of the area. This follows the policy of the State government to settle and provide shelter to the homeless and landless poor of the State. He said the government has decided to provide two biswas of land to the urban poor and three biswas of land to the eligible rural landless whose family income less than Rs. 50,000 per annum. He said that already 48 persons had already been provided the land. He directed the district administration to identify suitable government land to be allotted to the landless soon.He said out of 94 colleges in the State, 90 colleges were opened in the successive Congress regime. He said he feel elated to see that the girl students were outnumbering the boy’s as far as the strength in colleges in far-flung areas was concerned.He said a sum of Rs. 22 crore would be spent on construction of additional blocks of government college Nahan. 

He stressed for preserving age old traditions, language and customs at all cost in the present era of globalisation and development as these were our basis and roots of our identity.

Virbhadra Singh said the government was also providing top priority to strengthen the health sector. He said three more medical colleges has been approved for State out of which one would be opened at Nahan and it would be the first one to be made operational.He also paid tributes to former MLA Dr Prem Singh on his death anniversary.Chief Parliamentary Secretary Shri Vinay Kumar said the BJP government always ignored the development of the area. He said former MLA Dr. Prem Singh together with Shri Virbhadra Singh thrived for connecting the rural areas with the roads. He thanked the Chief Minister for various developmental works for the area. He also thanked for undertaking construction of Rs 16 crore Sangrah college building within a year. He said that the initial project cost of college building was rupees eight crore but it was due to dilly- dallying tactics of BJP for last five years that the college building was not completed in time bound manner and the previous government was responsible for an additional expenditure.He also placed several demands of the area before the Chief Minister.

Earlier, President, Sangrah Gram Panchayat and President Renuka Block Congress, Shri Tapendar Chauhan listed the developments of the area and credited the development works in the area to Shri Virbhadra Singh. MLA, Shri Kirnesh Jung, Chairman, Employment Generation and Resource Mobilisation, Shri Harshvardhan Chauhan, Chairman, HIMFED, Shri Ajay Bahadur, District Congress President, Shri  Ajay Solanki, Member PCC, Shri Yashpal Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner, Shri B.C. Badalia, SP, Ms. Soumya Sambasivan , Chief Engineer PWD, Shri Ashok Chauhan, Chief Engineer, IPH, Shri K.C. Dhiman, Chief Architect, PWD, Shri N.K. Negi, Conservator Forests Shri Y.P Gupta were also present on the occasion amongst other senior officers.
