BSF Celebrates Raising Day With Enthusiasm

Border Security Force was raised on 01 Dec 1965 to guard the International Border of India with Pakistan-east (now Bangladesh) & west. Besides effectively guarding these borders, BSF has done yeoman’s service in countering external and internal threat both during peace time and Indo-Pak war 1971. BSF has also contributed to various Internal Security Duties in a big way like election duty, maintaining Law and Order situations and to assist state administration during natural calamities. Contribution of BSF in Internal Security in North East region, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir in maintaining integrity of nation is well known to the country.

This year the 48th Raising day of BSF has been celebrated at BSF Paloura Jammu with full fervor, zeal & enthusiasm. Several events like Blood donation camps, Sainik Sammelan, Barakhana, a cricket match between Officers and SOs/Jawans, playing BSF  band in border areas for border population beside various other Cultural programme for the troops were organized to mark the occasion.  Brave hearts who laid down their lives and made Supreme scarified for integrity of country have been paid rich tributes. A function for NOK Martyrs has also been organized.

In the series of events, a grand dinner was hosted on 02 Dec’ 2013 at BSF Officer Institute Paloura, in which the Sh Omar Abdullah Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K was the Chief Guest. Seniors Dignitaries from Civil Administrations, Army, Police and CAPFs graced the occasion with their auspicious presence. All the Retired BSF Officer of Jammu region were also among the guests.It is worth mentioning that BSF Frontier Jammu under the able leader ship of Sh S S Tomar IG, won coveted Maharana Pratap Trophy for Best Frontier of BSF for the year 2013-14 in Border Management. During the prestigious BSF Day Parade held on 1st Dec’ 13 at New Delhi, Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha Smt Meera Kumar, The Chief Guest of the occasion awarded the Trophy to Sh S S Tomar, IG BSF Jammu Frontier.
