Urges Govt to defuse Live Shells and construct concrete bunkers

Soon after coming back from United States, Dr Shehnaz Ganai Hon’ble MLC, today visited Sawjian, Gagrian, chaprian and adjoining villages which witnessed heavy shelling from across the border along with the police and civil administration to assess the damage caused.Dr Ganai  appealed the State Govt to be proactive and take immediate steps for construction of concrete bunkers in the villages which are within the direct firing range. The need of the hour is to demarcate the villages which are within the firing range from across the border as danger zones and steps be taken to shift the people living in the  these villages to safer places, said Dr GanaiShe said that our villages are constantly under heavy fire from across border and people are living under the fear of death every time, schools have been closed the agriculture fields are under direct firing range, people are suffering and it is strange that the State Govt does not have any action  to rehabilitate them to safer places, she said.

She said that there are live shells in and around the villages and fields and cautioned that these can explode anytime, but the state administration has till date not taken any steps to remove them or even to defuse them, which has put the life of villagers and live stock in great danger.She demanded that proper compensation be provided to effected people, and further appealed the Govt to provide them free ration for six months as the villagers are not in a position to cultivate their agriculture lands.Later she met the officials of 40 R.R camp, and discussed with them the prevailing situation, she also met with the police/ civil administration and asked them to coordinate with army in defusing the live shells that are lying in the fields, so as to prevent any untoward incident.
