Ramzan, Vikar reviews supply, stocking, distribution of food grains, LPG in Jammu

Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Transport, Ch. Mohammad Ramzan in presence of Minister of State for CA&PD, Mr. Vikar Rasool took a detailed review of supply, stocking, distribution of food grains, and availability of K-Oil and home delivery system of LPG in Jammu province at a high level meeting convened here today.The Ministers directed the authorities of CA&PD to ensure stocking of full quota of essential commodities in hilly, remote and far-flung areas of Jammu pision before the onset of winter and ensure that the people of these snow-prone areas do not suffer on this count.Expressing their dissatisfaction over the home delivery system of LPG adopted by the oil companies operating in the State, the Ministers directed the authorities to ensure that the home delivery of LPG be made without any stoppage so that the consumers do not face any convenience on this account. They instructed the authorities to enhance capacity of stocking of LPG in the State especially in Kashmir Valley which is being hampered due to heavy snow fall and closure of National Highway.The Ministers said that stern action will be taken including cancellation of licenses of those gas agencies that are not providing satisfactory home delivery of LPG to the consumers adding that the matter is being taken up with the Union Ministry of Petroleum.
The Ministers authorised the officers of Legal Metrology Department to monitor the Home Delivery system of LPG in addition to their own duties.Discussing the measures regarding streamlining the supply and distribution system of essential commodities, Ch. Ramzan directed the authorities to conduct regular market checking of sale outlets to ensure timely supply of ration to the consumers, adding that providing food-grains through public distribution system to the people without any hindrance is the priority of the government.
Minister of State, Mr. Vikar underscored the need for early dispatch of food-grains to all outlets for onwards distribution to the consumer. He directed the concerned authorities to closely monitor the dispatch of quota to the sale outlets for further distribution to the consumers. He asked them to get feedback from the consumers including Panches and Sarpanches on whether they are getting the ration in time and as per the prescribed scale. He also directed them to take strict action against the dealers who are found violating the norms or indulging in black-marketing. The meeting was informed that sufficient quantity of food-grains is available in the State and the running line is also operating smoothly. It was also given out in the meeting that there is no shortage of sugar anywhere in the State.
Secretary CA&PD, Mohammad Abbas Dar instructed the officers and field staff to redouble their efforts to bring transparency and accountability in the public distribution system. He directed them to make frequent inspections within their jurisdiction and accordingly maintain a tour diary highlighting therein the problems and suggestions for early redressal. Director, CA&PD Jammu Mr. G.S. Chib gave detailed resume of the availability of stocks including K.Oil and LPG in Jammu province. He also informed the meeting that 91% work on digitization of records has been completed so far. The meeting was attended by senior’s officers of Food Corporation of India (FCI), Transport, CA&PD, Legal Metrology, representatives of various Oil Companies.
