Chief Secretary discusses bottlenecks in National Highway Projects

Chief Secretary, B R Sharma on Friday discussed bottlenecks in the National Highway Project in a review meeting, he chaired here.Principal Secretary Forests, Principal Secretary PDD, Commissioner Secretary, Revenue, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag, Pulwama, Ramban and Udhampur, Chief Engineer Project BEACON, Project Director NHAI and other officers were present in the meeting.Chief Secretary received briefed on the status of work on the Jammu-Srinagar-Uri National Highway Project and issues impeding the smooth completion of the prestigious project.   

Issues related to additional land requirements at certain stretches, land acquisition and award of compensation, removal of certain structures, trees, forest clearance etc were discussed in the meeting with directions from the Chief Secretary to the respective Deputy Commissioners and NHAI authorities to pursue the issues proactively so that all stretches of the National Highway Project are completed at the earliest.“Deputy Commissioners, NHAI authorities and executing agency should liaise to remove all bottlenecks impeding the construction of the National Highway”, Mr. Sharma stressed.Chief Secretary also asked NHAI to erect boundary pillars to demarcate the National Highway and get these pillars geo-tagged to prevent any encroachment on the demarcated land in future.Mr. Sharma also reviewed status of permanent power supply to the Chenani-Nashri tunnel and other issues related to the power infrastructure in the State.
