Threatening of Muslims in Jammu: Shabir Ahmad Shah says 'will take serious notice'

Pays tributes to Shaheed Irshad Ganaie

Expressing strong resentment over the distribution of intimidating letters at various places in Jammu, the Democratic Freedom Party Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah said a serious notice is being taken in this regard.Appealing Jammu Muslims not to feel threatened; Shah assured them full support to overcome the situation.According to a statement issued to KNS, "The Muslims of Jammu should not feel alone. We've taken serious note of the issue and will teach the communal elements a lesson," Shabir Ahmad Shah, who continues to be under house arrest, in a statement issued to media on Sunday said.

He warned of dire consequences if such anti-Muslim activities aren't stopped and appealed Muslims not to take any retaliatory step which will peril the communal harmony in the province."The communal zealots should refrain from such provocative actions against Muslims as it's intolerable and can yield serious repercussions," Shah maintained.

He further added, "We all are fighting the illegal and forcible occupation of Jammu Kashmir by India. The movement doesn't belong to any particular community but it's the struggle of all the people of the State who seek their inalienable right of self-determination."The Freedom Party Chairman paid glowing tributes to Lashkar-e-Toyyiba Commander Shaheed Irshad Ahmad Ganaie who was martyred yesterday in a gun fight with occupational forces in Kakapora area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. He strongly condemned the use of force by police and army against the mourners terming the action as "barbaric"."The Mujahedeen are sacrificing their precious lives for the sake of Islam and our freedom from oppressive powers. We're always indebted to their invaluable sacrifices," Shah added.Meanwhile, the party spokesperson has severely condemned the house detention of Shabir Ahmad Shah and other leaders. He said, by doing so, the authorities are trying to create a rift between leaders. (KNS)
