BOSE organizes sensitization programmes in Ladakh

Chatt stresses on promotion of Bhoti language

A high level delegation of Jammu and Kashmir state Board of School Education officers concluded their week-long visit to Leh and Kargil districts, during which local administration, senior functionaries from Education department, people’s representatives and leaders of religious organizations interacted with BOSE officials to chalk out strategies to strengthen the functioning of BOSE in the region.The Orientation/awareness Programmes about various Centrally Sponsored Scholarship Schemes and Jammu and Kashmir State Open Schooling were also conducted during the visit and were inaugurated by Prof Zahoor Ahmad Chatt, Chairman BOSE. Prof Veena Pandita, Secretary BOSE and Ms Kaneez Fatima, Director Academics were also present during the programmes.  The orientation programmes at both Leh and Kargil were attended by concerned Chief Education Officers, Principal DIETs, Heads of High and Higher Secondary schools, ZEOs and other subject experts in large number.

Apart from sensitizing the participants about various scholarship schemes such as NTSE, NMMS, CSS and INSPIRE, the Chairman BOSE also deliberated on language and identity threats and challenges at a workshop organized by Academic Division of BOSE on development of textbooks of Bhoti language. He said that Bhoti language should be promoted to nourish the culture and identity of Ladakh region. The workshop was attended by subject experts of Buddhist Studies Centre from Himachal Pradesh and Leh and from Education Department.

The BOSE officials interacted with Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) representatives both at Leh and Kargil and resolved several issues and concerns of the people in general and students in particular. The representatives of LAHDC (Leh and Kargil), religious organizations, Imamia School and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust made suggestions during an exhaustive interaction with the team. These groups brought important examination matters such as result, re-evaluation to the notice of BOSE authorities so that students of such remote areas do not suffer in future.

The Chairman and Secretary BOSE paid special attention to the construction of sub-offices for which the land has been provided by LAHDC. Necessary directions to undertake the long pending construction process was given on the spot. The chairman BOSE and his team promised a fast redress of the all the genuine grievances by taking possible measures at an earliest.
